is there such a word as 'paintress'? / there should be, I like it / my first attempt at painting in 2005 exists no more but my second is on the wall / a friend liked the look of them / I painted some especially for her in her favourite colours / they remain upside down in her living room / more fool me for not signing them / you paint and learn / here's to the topsy turvy tastes of friends! x

chiselling to the tempo of my heart beat / stone carving / a relaxingly noisy process / bath stone is an oolitic limestone from the jurassic period / 195-135 million years ago the region that is now bath was under a shallow sea / layers of marine sediment built and individual spherical grains or oolites (from the hellenic word ooion for egg) were coated with lime as they rolled on the seabed forming the bathonian series of rock / millions of years later in 2008 I got my hands on a 15 kg lump of it / I think she's quite sassy for an old girl

a basic russian class / september 2004 / I was fascinated by the alphabet / I created a picture with my name in russian / the only russian letters I can now remember / Алeксандра = alexandra / Саша = sasha (typical way to shorten alexandra in russian)
